Calligraphic Competition
Jinnah College for Women university of Peshawar organized a remarkable calligraphic competition on Wednesday, 13th November 2024, for students of F.Sc Part 1 and 2, as well as F.A Part 1 and 2, from both morning and evening shifts. The event aimed to inspire divine love for Quranic verses through the art of calligraphy. Principal Dr. Gulnaz Bano, who has recently assumed her role as Principal, has introduced a visionary initiative aimed at encouraging students to showcase their talents not only within the curriculum but also through co-curricular activities. To bring this vision to life, the Islamiat department has taken the initiative to organize a calligraphy competition, providing students with an opportunity to demonstrate their artistic skills in a professional manner. Sixteen talented students participated in the competition, divided into three groups, with each group assigned a distinct Quranic verse and Surah Mubarak. Under the supervision of the Head of Department, Mrs. Safia Hadi, and the Islamiat faculty, the participants created mesmerizing calligraphic artworks on canvas boards. Using paints, colors, and materials of their own choice, they poured their devotion and creativity into each piece. The competition was conducted with a fixed two-hour time limit, ensuring focus and dedication. The following day, on 14th November, an exhibition of these stunning artworks was held in the college library. The event was graced by the presence of the college Principal, Mrs. Gulnaz Bano, along with all the teachers and students, who admired the beauty and effort displayed in each painting. The competition concluded with a judgment round led by Mrs. Gulnaz Bano and Mrs. Safia Hadi. They selected two students as first-place winners, two as second-place winners, and one as the third-place winner. The position-holding students were awarded certificates and prizes.
