Heritage and Hospitality: Exploring Archaeological and Tourism Prospects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa


PESHAWAR: The University of Peshawar is proud to hold  a successful national conference titled "Heritage and Hospitality: Exploring Archaeological and Tourism Prospects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa," from August 16-18, 2024, at Baragali Summer Campus. The event is a significant platform aimed at exploring the rich archaeological heritage and tourism potential of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region.
 
The conference was officially inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Naeem Qazi, joined by eminent scholars and archaeologists including Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ali, Prof. Saif ur Rehman Dar, Prof. Dr. Abdur Rehman, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nasim, Prof. Dr. Mukhtiar Durrani, Prof. Dr. Farooq Swati, Prof. Dr. Zakirullah Jan and Dr Shakeel Khan.
 
 
Their participation highlights the importance of collaborative efforts in preserving and promoting the cultural and archaeological treasures of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
 
Researchers and experts from across the country gathered at this prestigious event to present their papers and share insights on various topics related to heritage conservation and tourism development. The conference, organized by the Department of Archaeology ,Tourism and Hotel Management at the University of Peshawar, is set to feature a series of sessions focusing on the preservation of archaeological sites, sustainable tourism practices, and the potential for KPK to emerge as a premier destination for cultural and heritage tourism.
 
This three-day conference not only underscores the rich historical and cultural assets of KPK but also fosters dialogue and collaboration among scholars, professionals, and policymakers, ensuring that the region's heritage continues to be a source of pride and a catalyst for sustainable tourism growth.
 
The concluding ceremony was attended by Dr Bakhtiar Khan Secretary Culture and Tourism Government of Khyber pass.
