Webinar on "Arab-Israel relationship and its impacts on the Muslim World"
The Department of International Relations, University of Peshawar conducted a day long webinar on September 15, 2020, the main theme was Israel Diplomatic Outreach to the Gulf Countries: Changing Political Calculus of the Muslim World. The various dimensions of evolving situations in the Muslim World in the wake of UAE-Israel deal have been discussed. The Webinar was divided into three sessions each of two hours with the following sub themes:
- History and the Dynamics of Arab-Israel Conflict.
- The Evolving Attitude of the Gulf Countries towards Israel.
- The Impacts of the Prevailing Arab-Israel Peace Process on the Muslim World.
In 1st session the theme “History and the Dynamics of Arab-Israel Conflict.” Was discussed by the Scholars, Prof Dr Qibla Ayaz- Chairman Council for Islamic Ideology, Professor Dr Nazir Hussain- Dean FoSS Quaid Azam University, Dr Rashid Ahmad, Prof Broto Wardoyo- Department of International Relations, Universitas Indonesia and session was moderated by Dr Khurshid Ahmad.
In 2nd session the theme The Evolving Attitude of the Gulf Countries towards Israel. Was discussed by Ambassador Javid Hassan, Ambassador Asif Durani, Dr Abdul Qadir-Balochistan University, Prof Dr Mustafa Kucuk-Ege University, Izmir, Turkey, Prof Dr FathiBourmeche- University of Sfax, Tunisia and the session was moderated by Dr Saima Gul.
In 3rd session the theme The Impacts of the Prevailing Arab-Israel Peace Process on the Muslim World was discussed by Prof Dr Muqtedar Khan –University of Delware USA, Kamran Bokhari- Vice President of Middle Eastern & South Asian Affairs at Stratfor, USA, Brig Akhtar Nawaz Janjua, and Dr Qamar- Ul Huda – Director of the Seccurity and Violent Extremism Program and a Senior fellow at the Center for Global Policy, USA. This session was moderated by Prof Dr Minhas Majeed Khan, Chairperson, Department of International Relations, University of Peshawar.
At the end giving the concluding remarks Chairperson Prof Dr Minhas Majeed Khan added that this Webinar will help the students to get intellectual appraisal about the evolving Middle Eastern and Muslim World politics, as it is taught to them in the Department of International Relations, University of Peshawar, She further said that It will point new areas for research and exploration for the researchers, writers and analysts, and the findings may help policy makers to respond to the Muslim-sensitive issue with a wise and rationale gaze.
