German ambassador meets VC, delivers a lecture at IPCS
Peshawar: German ambassador in Pakistan Bernhard Schlagheck has welcomed the suggestion of a symposium at the University of Peshawar on a French -German Reconciliation model though German and French ambassadors dialogue at the request of IPCS Director Prof.Hussain Shaheed Soherwardy on India-Pakistan rapprochement . German ambassador further welcomed the Afghan peace process and hope that democratic values, institutional buildup and women rights will take priority from Taliban faction.
The German ambassador Bernhard Schlagheck was flanked by German Goethe Institute Director Stephan Winkler and press and cultural Secretary Christine Rozenberger at the Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies .
The Director IPCS, Prof.Hussain Shaheed Soherwardy praised the ambassador for taking the train ride from Rawalpindi to Karachi for wider public understanding and diverse culture on the very onset of his term . Prof. Hussain welcomed the visit by reiterating that bilateral exchanges will prove beneficial for both sides as security and peace situation in the province demand much more exchanges like this.
The ambassador remarked in his address to students that his predecessor Martin Kobler has greatly praised the hospitality of Pashtuns and Peshawaris and he is overwhelmed by response and reception of the University today .
Later Director Goethe Institute Stephan Winkler pointed out that his Institute wants to bring in German linguistics based in Pakistan to expand the footprint of German language at the University for academic uplift and scholarships facilitation.Later ,Students took selfies with the delegation and talked to the delegation.

At the last leg of their visit , the delegation met with the Vice Chancellor University of Peshawar where both sides agreed to enhance academic ties and expand future cooperation in DAAD and exchange programs. University of Peshawar vice chancellor later assign Prof.Dr. Hizbullah Khan as a focal person to work with Goethe Institute to find avenues for joint linguistic projects. The German ambassador told the UoP delegation that he would visit UoP soon to further improve academic ties.
