UoP inks MoU to help community mobilization for polio eradication


Peshawar: University of Peshawar has inked an memorandum of understanding with Emergency operations center KhyberPakhtunkhwa   to help initiatives eradication of polio from the society and play its due role in the mobilization of society through its academic and collaborative efforts. The signing ceremony held at Committee room I were flanked by officials from both sides ,chief among them was the EOC chief coordinator Capt.Kmran Afridi and Vice chancellor University of Peshawar Prof.Dr. Muhammad Asif Khan .

Talking during the session, the vice chancellor university of Peshawar pledged to make anti polio drive a success as a national cause as it’s  a lingering chronic issue for the country in the comity of nations .”It’s all about precious live s and UoP community Service program will mobilize young lot to cope with this national emergency” he remarked. He called upon  focal persons Dr. Ibrar and Prof.Basharat  Hussain from Criminology to spearhead the Focus group discussions process at the university and surrounding communities as mandated by the memorandum .

Captain Kamran Afridi while thanking UoP desire to garner man power and resources behind the national and global initiative underscored the need for the educated lot of the university to become ambassadors for the anti-polio drive. He said that India is being declared polio free  and west is complementing Pakistan efforts just to avoid for being haunted by polio once again. He said that yesterday turn of events were very unfortunate and hands behind this sham mockery will be not going unpunished. He stressed that Peshawar being the center of all migrations in the past, will be polio harboring place as its virus can be easily come through any place and person and university of Peshawar role would be pivotal in the coming days to fight this menace with open mind and efforts.
