According to notification of Higher Education Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, pro-vice chancellor  Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abid  is being appointed as Dean of faculty of  Numerical & Physical Sciences for a period of three years for the second time .

Professor Muhammad Abid  has joined University of Peshawar  in May 1984 after getting his MSc degree from Quaid –e-Azam, University. He completed his PhD in Artificial Intelligence in 1990 from Cranfield University in the United Kingdom. He is the founding member of Department of Computer Science at University of Peshawar. He remained Chairman of the said department for 13 years .He is the founding Director of FAST-NJU Peshawar Campus .Currently, he is also the Pro-chancellor of University of Peshawar.

Professionally , beyond an academic he carried the membership of National Computing Education Accreditation Council for 12 years .He remained Vice President of the Pakistan Society for Natural language processing .
