Public Defense of a Ph.D Research Scholar at Department of Urdu
Mr. Abdul Mateen, a Ph.D. Research Scholar at the Department of Urdu, University of Peshawar has submitted his thesis entitled to the University of Peshawar, in partial fulfillment of the requirement for the award of degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D) in the discipline of Urdu.
All those having interest in the said research work, are cordially invited to attend the occasion. The participants would be allowed to raise relevant questions after the presentation by the scholar for further judgment and evaluation of the examiners.
Abstract:
Mushtaq Ahmad Yousafi is regarded one of the most well-known humorists of our times. Through his humor, he took Urdu literature to new levels. He introduced many new techniques and created a magnificent balance with the old techniques of Irony and humor. In the current study Mushtaq Ahmad Yousafi's light essays and humor characters were analyzed for research purpose to see how he improved on the age old techniques of humor writings, by the likes of Mirza Farhatullah Baig, Prof. Rashid Ahmad Siddique, Pitras Bukhari and Ibn e Insha. Some of the techniques that he introduced to his light essays are: understatement, paradox, parody, humor of character, humor of situation and comparisons. He created well-crafted character for his humorous essays. The character study shows how through his strong imagination power he created characters who are funny in their appearance as well as in their dialogues.
