Global Hand Washing Day
Global Hand Washing Day is a campaign to motivate and mobilize people around the world to improve their hand washing habits. Washing hands at critical points during the day and washing with soap are both important. Global Hand washing Day occurs on 15 October of each year.
Keeping in view the Department of Social Work, University of Peshawar in collaboration with the Helping Hand for Relief & Development, Islamabad has organized the Global Hand washing Day as per below schedule:
Date: 15th October, 2020.
Venue: University Public School, University of Peshawar
Timing: 10:30am to 12:20pm
The main purpose of the Global Handwashing Day theme focuses on the links between handwashing and food including food hygiene and nutrition. Handwashing is an important part of keeping food safe, preventing diseases, and helping children grow strong. The tagline, Clean hands a recipe for health, reminds us to make handwashing a part of every meal.
Since the world has been struck with Covid-19 and one main cause of its global spread is not taking proper care of health and hygiene - the organizing department will distribute soaps and masks; school children will be sensitized on use and importance of hand washing. Speakers will highlight establishment of places to hands in the household, in community, in schools, workplaces, and in health facilities. Speakers will also talk to promote effective handwashing behavior change in research, policy, programs, and advocacy.
