Call for Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Competition

The Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), University of Peshawar organized a Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Competition under the project “Sowing Tech Ideas – Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Competition for University Students in KP” of the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Consulate General Peshawar. This competition will encourage students at universities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to submit their ideas related to technological entrepreneurship that will spur economic growth, innovation, and improve Pakistan’s workforce.

Activities: 

Each public/private university of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will submit only one project idea (presented by a team of 4 students) which solves an environmental or technological problem on their campus or in their community.  Initially top five (5) ideas/teams will be shortlisted for three (3) days training/coaching, evaluation at Islamabad. Finally the top three (3) Ideas/teams shall be selected as the winner in the winning ceremony at Islamabad. A one month fellowship shall be provided to the winner three (3) teams at the ORIC, University of Peshawar, where the students shall be provided with the skills of creating of networking association and establishment of their own business in the market.

It is pertinent to mention here that all expenses (i.e boarding/lodging/food/transport) during the three days stay at Islamabad will be borne by the organizers. Furthermore, each member of the winning three teams after successful completion of the one month fellowship will be awarded of amounting about Rs.77,500/-. (i.e Rs.310,000/- per winning team).

 

In view of the above, it is requested that one best project idea (presented by a group of four (4) students) of your prestigious university may please be submitted (hard & soft form) to the ORIC, University of Peshawar by March 24, 2020.

Note: 

Female students will be encouraged and team containing at least one female should be awarded one extra mark during the selection of the project ideas/teams. Furthermore, three day training/coaching is tentatively scheduled before Ramadan (in April, 2020) and the one month fellowship will be offered after Ramadan (details will be provided to the winning teams).
