1st National Summer School of Social Work
Overview:
The summer school is a unique practice based on the collaboration between The Department of Social Work, University of Peshawar in collaboration with Community World Service Asia, Islamabad, The Department of Social Work, University of the Punjab, Lahore and the Department of Social Work, Sindh University Jamshoro, Sindh.It offers a rare opportunity to learn, study and interact with the Social Work students throughout the country, to explore the commonalities and differences, tolerance and to learn about the social services system in Pakistan.
The main purpose of the Summer School is to enables students in social work and related human service fields to explore the meanings, practices and implications of social work from a global and national perspective. A multinational cohort of students and faculty create an enriching environment for expanding and deepening understanding of national and global issues and how social workers can work collaboratively to address them. The Participants willl be engage in lectures, small group discussions, community service, cultural activities and informal interaction. They learn about issues and challenges faced by social workers in different parts of the country and innovative responses to them. A total number 0f 30 students will be participating in the event.
Where:
Baragali Summer Campus-II, Abbottabad.
When:
18th August 2019 to 21st August, 2019.
Structure:
In the mornings, which will inclues Lectures from the Professors, Eminemt Scholars, Human Rights Activists and People from the Civil Societies around the country.
Afternoons consists mostly of small group discussions around topics relevant to students in Social Work.
In the evening the participants will go for Trek Trail form Bara Gali to Kalabagh and besides that they will participate in the community services i.e the cleanliness of the campus. There will be a welcoming reception, “Culture Night” where participants will share and talk about their cultures in a light-hearted and relax setting.
Working languages of Summer School 2019: Language and communication skills are an important part of our program. You must be fluent* in Urdu and have a basic level** in English. It is your responsibility to have the required level in both languages.
Living Arrangements: All costs connected with transport, accommodation and food are covered by organizers (on the Bara Gali Summer Campus). Participants will be provided with necessary handouts and literature.
Our Volunteers: Our dedicated volunteers will be there to welcome you upon arrival, and provide any kind of support you may need, 24 hours a day for the whole length of your stay. They are passionate about Social Work and their Campus. What greater way to be introduced to both?
