Dr Zulfiqar Ali has been involved in various capacities – as a Professor with the University of Peshawar, his principal areas of interests are environmental planning & management, environmental impact assessment (EIA), sustainable development (SD) and urban / regional planning; as an EIA expert, prepares EIA reports of development projects under the Pak EPA guidelines, and safeguard / operational policies of Asian Development Bank / World Bank for the Governments; and, as a Master Trainer of Environmental Protection Agency, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (GoKP) delivers lectures / presentations to various audiences / employees of various line departments of the Government. He has served as Registrar, University Peshawar in 2017 and has also been elected member of the Senate of the University of Peshawar; Member Review Board of the Environmental Protection Agency, GoKP; and, Member Advisory Committee on Environment to the GoKP. Prior to joining University of Peshawar, he remained Environmental Consultant with the National Conservation Strategy (NCS) Unit of the then Ministry of Environment and Urban Affairs Division, Islamabad in 1992. Dr. Ali holds MSc in Environmental Planning and Management with Gold Medal from the University of Peshawar, MPhil in EIA from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK and foreign evaluated PhD in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Peshawar. He has authored several research articles in the international and national journals besides contribution in the national and international conferences.
