Community Service Program
I feel pleasure to share that the office of the Community service Program (CSP), University of Peshawar is regularly engaging undergraduate students of University of Peshawar as well as students of affiliated colleges in community oriented work as mandatory 90 hours (non-credit) activity during their 4 year academic duration. There are more than 5000/- enrolled students (male-female) who could be engaged in various social, community and literacy-oriented activities. These students are from diverse academic background such as social sciences, biological, numerical, literature (Urdu, Pashto, Dari and English), fine arts etc. they can volunteer their services in this noble causes.
It is worth mentioning that CSP have already engaged students in such noble-activities under social work program (former name of the program). Free education classes for the low-come students as well as for the illiterate children under “Teach One Each One Program’ was a successful program wherein more than 200 students were equipped with the knowledge and skill of education in 2006.
60 street children at Peshawar were benefited from educational activities designed by Young Volunteers of University of Peshawar in collaboration with Cities for Children, for 45 days for the purpose of reintegration neglected children into mainstream society.
Future Activity:
“Tailoring Talent with Skill Program” will be initiated soon where talented low-income students will be benefited from this activity. The purpose of the program is to polish the cognitive skills of low-income students of public sector colleges for pursuing their academic goals.
Moreover, “Counselling and Rehabilitative School/Sessions” for the intellectually challenged Children (such as autism, down syndrome) and their primary-care givers such mothers is in pipeline which will be started at the College of Home Economics, University of Peshawar wherein Clinical psychologist, sociologists and social workers will engaged in rehabilitative process. This will be a 1st ever school in the higher education institutions in Pakistan which will be used as Laboratory as well as community service provider institution.
I humbly request all stakeholders i.e. HoDs, Principals, Directors, Chairman, Chairperson and CSP Coordinators to take it as noble responsibility and motivate students to carry out this civic activity with zest and zeal for the welfare and betterment of Pakistan.
Godless you All
