PAKISTAN CHINA ECONOMIC COOPERATION: NEXT LEVEL
Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) has organized a conference on, “Pakistan china economic cooperation: next level” on 6TH March 2019. Ambassador ® Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry, Director General (ISSI) in his welcome address explained that regardless of the changes on the international scene and change of governments in both countries, Pakistan and China close friendly relationship has strengthened with time.
Mr Jiang Han, Political Counselor, Embassy of the People1s Republic of China in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in his address highlighted the strengthening of Pakistan China relations in the era of BRI and CPEC. He said that Under BRI economic integration will strengthen which will pave the way for raising the living standard of the people of these regions.
Honourable Shah Mehmood Qurishi, the Foreign Minister of Pakistan was the Chief Guest of the conference. In his address H.E. highlighted the strengthening of Pakistan and China relations with passage of time and underlined that Pakistan and China friendly relations are a source of regional peace and stability. He further highlighted that under BRI and CPEC these relations will further strengthen and will usher regional prosperity.
A large number of the Directors of the China Study Centres and institutes in Pakistan and Ms. Saadia Waqar un Nisa, the Director CPEC at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs participated in this conference . Prof Dr Zahid Anwar, Director, China Study Centre, University of Peshawar has delivered his paper on, “ CPEC: Extension to Other Countries”. In his paper Prof Anwar highlighted the benefits of CPEC for the whole region including Afghanistan. He said that by joining CPEC Afghanistan will be able to overcome many of its infrastructure connectivity problems. Many diplomats, experts and senior government officials and Directors of China Study Centres and Institutes in Pakistan participated in the conference
