VISIT OF A BIG DELEGATION OF CHINESE INVESTERS TO PESHAWAR, PAKISTAN

A Chinese delegation visited Peshawar and in its honour Dr Hasan Daud Butt, CEO Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Investment and Trade arranged a dinner in a local hotel on 24 November 2019 . Then a seminar was organized at the Chief Minister House on 25 November, 2019. Experts and Government officials explained the attractions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to the Chinese investors who took keen interest in the investment opportunities offered by the province. The delegation of 45 investors from China met with their business counterparts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at the Chief Minister House to discuss avenues of mutual interest and investment. The Chinese delegation of businessmen which was led by Mr. Sha Zukang Ex-Ambassador of China to UN appreciated the warm welcome and hoped for further strengthening of economic cooperation particularly investment in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province in near future.

The chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in his address said that the history of KP and Silk Road went a long way when merchants from China and Central Asia used to come to Peshawar. Addressing the delegation of Chinese and Pakistani investors in a mega lunch , he said that his government was focused on attracting investment in sectors of renewable energy, information technology, small/medium hydel project, mining, tourism, agriculture, livestock and light manufacturing. The Chief Minister further stated that implementation of Suki Kinari Hydel Project, Rashaki Special Economic Zone, Havelian-Thakot Highway, Swat Expressway, Peshawar-DI Khan Expressway and Havelian dry port as part of ML-1 project would bring prosperity to the province.

For economic growth and development, the government is focusing on value addition in the existing mining and agriculture sectors to improve export to large markets like China and others. Prof Dr Zahid Anwar, Director, China Study centre, University of Peshawar was invited to the events and held meetings with the distinguished guests especially Professor Tang Mengsheng.Mr Zahoor Ahmad, Manager Liaison,ORIC UOP also accompanied the Director CSC.
