SHANGHAI FORUM 2019: ASIA AMIDST GLOBAL RESHUFFLING: CHALLENGES, DEVELOPMENTS, AND NEW PARADIGMS
"Shanghai Forum 2019" was organized by Fudan University, Fudan Development Institute, Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies and was held in Shanghai between May 25-27, 2019, focusing on the theme "Asia Amidst Global Reshuffling: Challenges, Developments, and New Paradigms". The opening ceremony was held on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Shanghai International Convention Center (SICC) and the rest of the session took place at Fudan University.
Shanghai Forum, launched in 2005, is known as one of the most famous international forums held in Shanghai. The Forum is a non-governmental and non-profit academic organization, which holds an annual symposium each May in Shanghai. Shanghai Forum 2019 was held from May 25 to May 27, 2019 in Shanghai. The theme was “Global Governance and Asia — Asia
Amidst Global Reshuffling: Challenges, Developments, and New Paradigms”.
Shanghai Forum takes its mission to “Concentrate on Asia, focuses on hot issues, congregate elites, promotes interactions, enhances cooperation and seeks consensus” seriously. It endeavors to build an interactive platform for multi-sided communication amongst academic, political, commercial, and press circles.
Shanghai Forum 2019 was a mega event in which 21 round-tables beside many other sessions took place in different buildings of the beautiful Fudan University. The forum was well organized and divided into many panels. In the round-table number nine (9) on, “ South Asia in Global Changes” the Ambassador of Pakistan H.E. Masood Khalid and the Ambassador of India H.E. Vikram Misri spoke in detail on the difficult situation in South Asia and stressed on cooperation for the betterment of the people of the South Asian Region.
This round-table was organized by Center for South Asia Studies, Fudan University, Co-organizer: Center for Pakistan Studies, Fudan University and Center for Gandhi and Indian Studies, Fudan University. It was divided into two sessions: Session one was on “South Asia in a Changing World”, moderator: Prof Zhang Jiadong and the speakers were Arun Kumar Panwar, Dr Rasheduzzaman who spoke on South Asia in Global Change, Fu Yuhong “the Development of Terrorism in South Asia”, Lan Jianxue “The Adjustment of International Structure and Upcoming Changes in South Asia”, Darko Trifunovic “South Asia in Global Change” Session two was focused on China-South Asia Relations in this Changing World, moderator: Lin Minwang and the speakers were Hu Shisheng who delivered his speech on Sino-India Relations and Asia Multi-polarization, Zhu Cuiping “ The Changing International Environment in the IOR, and China’s Choice” Liu Zongyi “The Future of China-India Relations and their Role in South Asia and Indo-Pacific” and Prof. Dr. Zahid Anwar, Director China Study centre, University of Peshawar, Pakistan presented his research paper on China - South Asia Relations in a Changing South Asia”. The session came to an end with a group photo. Prof Dr Zahid Anwar thanked the organizers particularly Prof Zhang Jiaodong for the invitation, hospitality and excellent arrangements.
