DIRECTOR CSC PRESENTATION ON, "CPEC AND KASHMIR" IN THE SYMPOSIUM ON KASHMIR ISSUE ORGANIZED BY SBB WOMEN UNIVERSITY PESHAWAR
Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Peshawar has organized one day national Symposium on Kashmir Issue on 28th March 2019 at Larama campus of the University. Sardar Masood Khan, President, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) was the Chief Guest. The president in his speech said that Kashmir issue has come into international limelight after the strategically ill-advised and reckless Indian misadventure against Pakistan last month. AJK President appreciated the efforts of the Vice-Chancellor of SBBWU for organizing the symposium on such an important issue. Describing Kashmir as the root cause of tensions between India and Pakistan, Khan said that the core dispute is the denial of the right to self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He said a part of the world community has started raising its voice on flagrant violation of human rights in Kashmir. He urged students and faculty to devote their time and energies for the promotion of Kashmir cause and raise their voice for the oppressed and subjugated people of Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK).
Prof Dr Razia Sultana, the Vice-Chancellor Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Peshawar in her address discussed human rights violations in IoK and said that the resolution of Kashmir issue is necessary for durable peace in South Asia. Prof Dr Nazir Hussain in his address said that internal cohesion in Pakistan is required for resolving the Kashmir dispute and he further underlined the important role of diaspora i.e., the role of the people of Pakistan and Kashmir living abroad. Prof Dr Jehanzab Khalil discussed the Kashmir dispute in historical perspective. Prof Dr Zahid Anwar, Director China Study Centre, University of Peshawar in his presentation highlighted the CPEC and Kashmir issue. He said that the CPEC which is a mega project of BRI connected Pakistan with more than 50 member countries of the BRI. It has successfully countered efforts to isolate Pakistan internationally. China and Pakistan are supporting each other in different global, regional and bilateral issues and stated that the successful completion of CPEC will be a leap forward in resolving the Kashmir dispute. Dr Zafar Nawaz Jaspal( QAU) in his speech brought to limelight the recent development in the relations between Pakistan and India and gave details of Indian brinkmanship. Dr Shaheen ( NDU) discussed the water dispute between India and Pakistan and its impact on Kashmir dispute. Dr Minhaj-ul-Hasan (UOP) elaborated the role of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the freedom struggle in Kashmir. Many speakers highlighted different aspects of the Kashmir issue and educated a large number of audience which included students, faculty members, journalists diplomates and other professionals.
