Day-1 First International Conference on Socio-Economic and Political Currents In FATA: A Way Forward

On 10-11 June, 2015 Cell for FATA Studies, University of Peshawar successfully organized an international conference on “Socio-Economic and Political Currents in FATA: A Way Forward”. The two days event, co-organized and funded generously by the PUP, was held at the Sir Sahibzada Qayyum (SSAQ) Museum Hall, University of Peshawar. More than two hundred and fifty students, all hailing from different universities of Peshawar, members of civil society, staff of the FATA Secretariat, and University staff turned up for the event that consisted of six panels each addressed by two to three eminent scholars and/or practitioners. The theme of the panels varied from Governance and Administrative status of FATA; Post Conflict Society, Media and Education in Developing FATA’s Image; Governance and Reforms in FATA; Military Operations, Development, Economics & Tribal Code in FATA; Migrants and Women of FATA, to FATA from Abroad. The conference had managed to attract fourteen eminent speakers.
