Grand Reunion, 2016

On a very fine morning of December, 24th 2016, University of Peshawar Alumni Association (UOPAA) held the Grand Reunion of all the Departments of this University. Alumni from various cities came to attend the event. UOPAA hosted more than four hundred guests who were ecstatic to re-visit their alma mater and rekindle their bonds with their ex-class fellows. More than thirty prestigious alumni contributed donations for scholarships and other productive activities organized by UOPAA. Around Rs. 12, 00,000/- (1.2 Million) were pledged by the alumni.

The occasion started with recitation from the Holy Quran and National Anthem. The Coordinator UOPAA Professor Dr. Syed Hussain Shaheed Soherwordi, delivered a welcome speech. He greeted all the guests with enthusiasm and cheered them for their keen interest in the program. Professor Dr. Muhammad Rasul Jan, the then Vice Chancellor of University of Peshawar, emphasized the importance of collaboration among alumni and the University. He encouraged them to contribute their polished skills and services to the University and also asked them to create job market for the fresh graduates. He also emphasized on career counselling by the alumni for the youth in order to guide them well in their specific fields.

A brief pictorial documentary on all the reunions conducted so far by various Departments in University was presented to the audience. A renowned singer of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa who is also an alum of the University, Irfan Khan, graced the occasion with his presence. His melodious songs brought warmth to the environment and all the participants enjoyed a lot. Ample amount of time was given to the audience for expressing their thoughts about the event, give suggestions, and share their memories of their time spent in University. Current students presented a precisely prepared Chitrali Dance which was highly appreciated by the audience. Gulzar Alam, an eminent Pashto singer of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, sang his famous songs. After an ending Attan dance, Coordinator UOPAA gave a vote of thanks to all the alumni and staff. He appreciated the efforts of all the focal persons and Assistant Directors who worked towards the successful execution of the event. Shields were presented individually to each guest on stage. A lavish lunch was served at the end of the ceremony. Overall, the program was enjoyed and appreciated by the audience and applauded by the University officials.
