Reunion of Institute of Chemical Sciences, University of Peshawar
In October 2005, the Institute of Chemical Sciences celebrated its golden jubilee under the lead of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rasul Jan, Vice Chancellor, University of Peshawar. The celebration continued for three days (20-22nd November 2005) and around 300 ex-graduates gathered on this special occasion from across the country.
The inaugural session of the 50 years celebrations was held in video conferencing hall at Department of Physics. The guest speaker was Gen. Retired Mumtaz Gul who spoke about the achievements of the Department and also announced the upgradation of Department of Chemistry to Institute of Chemical Sciences. The honorable guest presented souvenirs to the faculty members and distinguished alumni of this Institute for their academic, scientific and administrative contributions.
The program included alumni interactive sessions. In the sessions, distinguished alumni gave insightful speeches about their days in the University and shared their experiences behind their successful careers. Local media broadcasted alumni reunion and interviews of the distinguished alumni. A photographic session was also part of the gathering.
The reunion culminated in a dinner hosted by the Institute. The alumni were entertained with a stage programme that added fun to the event. The celebration and reunion was concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Dr. Muhamamd Rasul Jan. The reunion offered a chance to the ex-graduates to explore the Institute and Campus and witness changes University has brought over recent years. This glorious reunion provided an opportunity to the ex-graduates to reunite with colleagues, to rekindle old friendships with classmates, catching up with memories, and recent news. Looking back at the event, many alumni expressed their views about the reunion and considered it a great success.
