Reunion of Department of Urdu, University of Peshawar

A reunion of the Alumni Association, Department of Urdu, University of Peshawar was held on 7th May, 2016. Prof. Dr. Rasul Jan, Vice Chancellor, University of Peshawar graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Prof. Dr. Miraj-ul-Islam, Dean, Faculty of Islamic and Oriental Studies, Prof. Dr. Syed Hussain Shaheed Soherwordi, Coordinator, University of Peshawar Alumni Association (UOPAA), and other high officials of the University were also present at the gathering. A large number of alumni and former faculty also participated zealously. Prof. Dr. Salman Ali, President of the Association, welcomed the honorable guests. Prof. Suhail Ahmed, senior faculty of the Department, shed light on brief history, educational and literary services of the Department. Participants shared their memories with the audience and retired faculty recited beautiful poetry.

Coordinator UOPAA, Dean, and Vice Chancellor delivered speeches at the gathering and declared alumni as University’s precious asset. Renowned graduates and faculty of the Department including Ahmad Faraz, Maqbool Butt, Aziz Aijaz, Munawwar Rauf, Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Awan, Dr. Sabir Kaloorvi, Dr. Nazeer Tabassum, Dr. Faqeera Khan Faqree, and Taha Khan were paid tribute. The event concluded with a lavish lunch. All the participants appreciated the efforts made by the Department to reunite the alumni.
