Reunion of Department of Zoology, University of Peshawar

Department of Zoology celebrated its first alumni reunion on Thursday 26th May, 2016 at PUTA Hall, University of Peshawar. About 150 alumni joined among them senior alumni from the first session also participated in the reunion. Prof. Dr. Rasul Jan, Vice Chancellor, University of Peshawar was the Chief Guest while Prof. Dr. Syed Hussain Shaheed Soherwordi also joined the event as Coordinator of University of Peshawar Alumni Association (UOPAA). Inaugural speech was delivered by Prof. Dr. Inayat Ali Shah Jehan, Chairman, Department of Zoology. He highlighted the activities of the Department from academic as well as research point of view and enumerated the development and advancement of the Department in the past 53 years shedding light on the research work done by his colleagues and research grant worth millions of rupees taken from PARC, Higher Education Commission, and British Council. He also encouraged the young faculty to improve the quality of imparting education and research by meeting the present day challenges of the industry. Prof. Dr. Syed Hussain Shaheed  Soherwordi also spoke on the occasion and talked about aims and objectives of the University of Peshawar Alumni Association (UOPAA). Later Prof. Dr. Rasul Jan, Vice Chancellor, University of Peshawar highlighted the importance of alumni associations in the Universities and their role in building the future of our younger generations. Prof. Dr. Naheed Ali and Prof. Dr. Abdul Hamid Jan who retired on 13th April, 2016 were presented with shields as Life time Achievement Award in recognition of their valuable services for the Department. A slide show displayed previous photographs of alumni and events. Later, alumni shared their good memories with the audience. At the end of the ceremony, a lavish lunch was served to the guests. Everybody appreciated the event, enjoyed it very much, and stressed upon continuing such events in future.
