Reunion of Department of English & Applied Linguistics, University of Peshawar

The first alumni reunion of the Department of English and Applied Linguistics held on Saturday 12th March, 2016. Despite of heavy rain, more than 90 Alumni attended the gathering.

Mr. Arif Khan, Focal person for alumni association, Department of English and Applied Linguistics and Dr. Syed Hussain Shaheed Soherwordi, Coordinator University of Peshawar Alumni Association (UOPAA) talked about the overall scenario of the Alumni Association and its plans. Dr. Nasir Jamal Khattak, Chairman, Department of English and Applied Linguistics and Prof. Dr. Rasool Jan, Vice Chancellor, University of Peshawar also addressed the audience.

A documentary covering photographs of all the chairpersons in chronological order, followed by the pictures and names of renowned people associated to the Department were presented. A tribute had paid to the martyrs of the Army public school attack. The participants appreciated the documentary prepared by the students of the Department. Teachers and students gallery received applause from the audience as it was amalgamation of old and new pictures including the pictures of different events and functions held in the Department. Dr. Anoosh Khan, Chairman, Department of Gender Studies and Mr. Anees ur Rehman, Lecturer, Agricultural University Peshawar were elected as President and general secretary respectively. Current students of the Department presented different items including instrumental music, poetry, and songs followed by traditional Attan dance, which made it a memorable reunion.
