Reunion of Department of Social Work, University of Peshawar

On a rainy Saturday of 5th March, 2016, the 2nd Alumni Reunion of the Department of Social Work was held in the grassy lawn of New Academic Block. The reunion was attended by more than 300 students, right from the 1st batch of 1979 to the present batch of students. Besides students, numerous representatives of public and private sectors, including Social Welfare Department, KP-FATA Disaster Management Authority, Rescue 1122, SPARC, UNICEF, Dost Foundation, UNFPA, PRCS, and Faysal Bank also participated in the event to witness the legacy of Department of Social Work.

The event was addressed by Dr. Basharat Hussain, Chairman, Department of Social Work, Prof. Dr. Syed Hussain Shaheed Soharwardi, Coordinator, University of Peshawar Alumni Association (UOPAA), Prof. Dr. Johar Ali, Vice Chancellor, Malakand University, Prof. Dr. Adnan Sarwar, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Peshawar, and Mr. Muhammad Naeem, Director, Social Welfare, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Honorable Mr. Qaiser Jamal, Member, National Assembly and honorable Mr. Muhammad Ali, Member, Provincial Assembly Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, also addressed the participants. They shared their student life experiences and the contribution that Department of Social Work made in their lives.

Major items of the event were Live Sufi Music, Rubab performance by BS student, and experience sharing by the worthy participants. The guests were served with a high tea and a lunch.
